Technical development
Some clients require detailed training courses that not only increase personnel awareness, but also their skill base. To cater for this, we can provide one-day modules based around specific geophysical techniques and applications. Each course has a common structure based on the following model:
- Introduction to basic theory and scientific principles
- Methods of deployment and operation
- Methods of data analysis
- Practical demonstration of equipment (where appropriate)
- Examples of interpretation techniques, including pitfalls
Where necessary we can call upon experts from outside RIL to complement our personnel. In addition to our presentations, we provide course notes and in some cases follow-up support.
Examples of courses we can provide include:
- An introduction to ground-penetrating radar for archaeological and Quaternary studies
- Ground-penetrating radar for the investigation of engineering structures
- Electromagnetic, microgravity, magnetrometry, electrical resistivity and seismic surveying techniques (one day for each technique)
- Exploration high-resolution seismology (three day course)
